Nonprofit Sponsorships are Good for Business

Let's Start A Conversation:

It’s fair to say for most businesses, the eyes of your customers are upon you. Some, in fact, may be taking a closer look to see if you’re “doing the right thing” in terms of social responsibility like nonprofit sponsorships . . . and they’re letting their wallets reflect what they see.

nonprofit sponsorshipsAccording to Nielsen research, 42% of North Americans say they are willing to pay extra for products and services from companies committed to positive social and environmental impact.
For small and mid-sized businesses that derive most of their sales locally, sponsorships, donations, pro bono services, discounts and volunteering are just a few of the ways in which you can build a profile as a good neighbor in the community.

Where do you start?

    1. Define your purpose. With countless ways to share your time and talents, develop a purpose statement for your giving that defines your interests. Aligning with organizations that are a good fit with your purpose and values creates a win-win relationship for you and them.
    2. Offer opportunities for your employees to give back, too. Encouraging your staff to support your company’s or their own pet projects has shown to increase morale, teamwork, employee retention and satisfaction.
    3. Don’t overlook professional affiliations. Chambers of Commerce and other business and professional organizations and consortiums require volunteers to survive. Head a committee or help with an event, and build important business (and personal) relationships.
    4. Maximize the impact of your support. Use your social network channels, email, website and print communications to highlight your community involvement. Not only do you let your customers know more about your business’ community activities, but you also open the door for like-minded contacts to add their support in time or money.
